About Us
Dr J A Chau opened at 163 Macquarie St in Hobart on Feb 12 1969 by Dr Joseph Chau with the support of his wife Irene.
In 1980 the practice moved to a larger location nearby at 149 Macquarie St as well as expanding to open a second practice at 1 Scott St, Bellerive. In 2018, with the success of the expansion to the Eastern shore, the need to relocate the Bellerive premises arose and a state of the art, purpose-built location at Rosny Park was opened.
We have proudly built trusting, long-term relationships with our existing patients - many who come from multi-generational families who continue to choose J A Chau Dental Surgeons as their dentists of choice. With two convenient locations our team looks forward to welcoming new patients and enjoys fostering positive dental experiences for all.
Our highly skilled team of 7 dentists and 1 hygienist offer services varying from preventative, emergency and cosmetic dental treatment, endodontics, orthodontics and implants. Our dentists are extensively trained clinicians who continue to seek out new and innovative techniques of dentistry for the benefit of our patients. We are also fortunate to offer our patients the services of our visiting specialist in periodontics, Dr Simon Hinckfuss, who provides treatment from our Rosny practice once a month.
Our clinicians are backed by an amazing support staff of dental assistants, administration staff and management. Our support team are guided by the philosophy of exceeding our patient’s expectations in order to provide a welcoming, calm and enjoyable experience overall.
